Kevin Minter NFL Draft Profile

Kevin Minter, Junior, LB, LSU

Overview:

LSU has been known to crank out some solid defensive stars under Les Miles and turn them into solid NFL players.  Minter appears to be no different.  He led the team in tackles as an inside linebacker at 10 per game (20th nationally).  He is athletic and quick.  He had four sacks this season blitzing from the inside.  He seeks out the ball with regularity.  He was constantly taking guys down for a loss.  He may not be Ray Lewis, but Minter is a good football player and someone will scoop him up.

Final Projection:

Minter is a top five prospect at his position and as such he will get a lot of early draft consideration.  Inside linebackers are not always getting first round looks, though.  With more teams shifting to 3-4 defenses, that may change a little bit.  Minter could go somewhere in the first round, but he more likely a second or third round guy.  A team that has the ability to sit him behind a veteran and transition him into the position would be his ideal fit.
