Chris Polk NFL Draft Profile

2012 NFL Draft Profiles

Chris Polk, Junior, Running Back, Washington

Washington Team Page

Overview:

Coming into the season, Washington back Chris Polk was not quite a household name. To be honest, even after notching his third consecutive 1000 yard season, he is still not a household name, although NFL scouts could care less. They know a prospect when they see one.

The 1100+ yards his sophomore season was a blasting off point. Topping 1400 yards and scoring nine touchdowns in 2010 was a nice encore. Finishing 2011 with 1488 rushing yards, another 332 receiving and 16 total touchdowns was a fine way to end things for Chris Polk. Third in the conference in rushing, Polk accounted for more than 74 percent of the Huskies’ total rushing offense for the season and was the team’s leading scorer by a fair margin, even over placekicker Erik Folk.

Final Projection:

Even admitting that he is neither the biggest nor the fastest back around, Polk should expect big things on draft day. Although he is not on Trent Richardson’s level, being one of the next running backs off the board, somewhere in round two, would be a realistic expectation. There are many teams looking for productive backs these days, with many franchises even using more than two backs to run their offense.
