Derek Wolfe NFL Draft Profile

2012 NFL Draft Profiles

Derek Wolfe, Senior, Defensive Tackle/Defensive End, Cincinnati

Cincinnati Team Page

Overview:

Wolfe wrapped up an excellent senior season with six total tackles in a bowl win over Vanderbilt, which brought his total up to 70. He had a team high 9.5 sacks on the year and also lead the team in tackles for a loss, with 18 on his own, and seven assisted. On his career, he has 162 tackles and 20 sacks. He is a very active player, especially for a defensive lineman, and always seems to find a way to get to the ball.

Final Projection:

Wolfe is a disruptive player with great size, which bodes well for him as an NFL prospect. He uses a good combination of speed and strength to fight out blocks, get penetration, and create havoc. Because of this unique combination he can play either defensive end or defensive tackle at the next level. Wolfe projects to be a late second to an early third round selection.
