Russell Wilson NFL Draft Profile

Wisconsin College Football 2012 NFL Draft Profile Russell Wilson

Russell Wilson, Senior, Quarterback, Wisconsin

Overview:

When Russell Wilson transferred from NC State to Wisconsin their offense changed drastically. He is an outstanding athlete who possesses excellent arm strength and pinpoint accuracy. He makes great decisions and just wrapped up an excellent senior season in which he led the Badgers to the Rose Bowl.  He completed 72.8 percent of his passes and threw for over 3,000 yards and 33 touchdowns. He was a finalist for the Manning award and the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm award in his final collegiate season. He is a dual threat quarterback and is a great innovator. Even when a play breaks down, Wilson has the ability to make something happen.

Final Projection:

Although Wilson is an outstanding athlete and possesses the athletic ability, the intangibles, and the arm to succeed at the next level, he will not be a first round pick for a few reasons. The number one concern about Wilson is his small stature. Another fear about Wilson in the next level is that he has been drafted to play baseball, so he could always opt to play second base for the Rockies rather than play football for whoever drafts him. Wilson will likely end up being a third round selection, but could go as high as the second round.
