Coach Blankenship Will Make Tulsa's High Powered Offense Even Better

The Tulsa Golden Hurricanes have been known nationwide for their ridiculous offensive output. They would run all over opponents, constantly pushing forward with their unique no huddle hurry up spread.  They would attack opponent in a multitude of ways, exposing their weakness, and exploiting mistakes.  This unit ranked 5th in the nation in total offense, compiling a whopping 505 yards per contest, as well as putting up points at a blistering rate of 41 points per game, good for sixth nationally. These astronomical offensive numbers are what propelled Tulsa to 10-3 record, that was capped by a dominate and impressive 62-35 win over Hawaii in the Hawaii bowl. It is also what prompted other schools to chase Tulsa Head Coach, Todd Graham to be in hot pursuit of him to fill their Head Coaching vacancy. Todd Graham was lured away by the University of Pittsburgh, which provided him with more prestige, a better opportunity to coach NFL caliber players, and a chance at an automatic BCS berth by winning the Big East.  However just because the Golden Hurricanes lost their sideline general, doesn’t mean their season will be a loss. In fact, just the opposite it probably true. Tulsa is loaded with returning talent, starting with their stud, duel threat quarterback in G.J. Kinne. Their new Head Coach, Bill Blankenship was an assistant under Todd Graham for many years. He will be able to guide the program under the same basic principles and philosophy that were in place under Coach Graham, as well as spice it up with his own unique formula for success, designed to take Tulsa over the top.

Tulsa fans should be excited for Head Coach Bill Blankenship to be pacing their sidelines this season. With the genius offensive system that was employed by Todd Graham, Coach Blankenship can do what he does best to take the Hurricanes over the top. He has outstanding morals, leadership ability, and savvy and is expected to help Tulsa rise to new heights that have never been seen before. I wouldn’t expect anything less from him. As a first year Head Coach he is already expected to have Tulsa in a bowl game, win 10 games, and win the conference. That is extremely high expectations for any coach, especially a first year candidate. However Coach Blankenship embraces the expectations and is extremely excited for the opportunity. He promises that if nothing else, he will be prepared each and every week. That alone should result in a great season.

Coach Blankenship will continue to help grow this offense, as he has every year in the past four seasons while working with the offense. That is a scary thought. This offense is not as good as they can be yet, they still have untapped potential. Coach Blankenship insists that this offense will not halt in production, but actually improve. He fully expects the Goldern Hurricanes to be a dominate force and be a top team in the nation.

For anyone who is worried that the Golden Hurricances won’t be the same high flying fast pace offense they were last year, don’t fret, this team will be all it is cracked up to be. They will be the same high octane offense and will light up the scoreboard on their way to a Conference USA title. The Golden Hurricanes are back this year, and stronger than ever. First year Coach Bill Blankenship will make sure that they are prepared for anything and everything, and will force Tulsa to leap to greater heights than ever expected. To a casual fan , or just a college football fanatic, Tulsa is a great team to watch, as they are very exciting. For a Tulsa fan they are even more exciting as the Golden Hurricanes will hit opponents more like a tsunami this season, destroying anything in their path to a ten win season and a bowl victory.
