After Stanford lost to Gonzaga very early in the season, many expected the Cardinal would be taking a step back this year. By Stanford standards, the schedule has not been very tough. But on Sunday the Cardinal came back and beat Washington 72-68 on the road and are now sitting at 9-1. That was Coach Tara VanDerveer’s 999th career win. Win number 1,000 should come against USC at home this week before another big test against UCLA. The other tough contest comes in the last week of the season at Oregon State, the other team currently sitting at 9-1 in the Pac-12.
