Connecticut broke their own record by winning their 91st straight game on Saturday. The Huskies, in typical fashion, crushed SMU 88-48 to reach the milestone and move to 16-0 on the season. The only other undefeated team left in women’s college basketball is Mississippi State. Unlike Connecticut, Mississippi State has their toughest games still ahead of them. While the SEC slate is much more manageable than usual, a January 23rd trip to South Carolina could very well leave Connecticut as the only undefeated team left. February road trips to Texas A&M and Kentucky will certainly be very tough too. However, even with a few losses along the way, Mississippi State is poised to earn a high seed and be a serious contender in March.
