South Carolina and UCLA matched up in what was the best game of the week as the Gamecocks held serve at home and beat the Bruins 66-57. It was not the easiest of routes to victory for South Carolina as they had to overcome a 2-of-15 start shooting the basketball to win the game. Alaina Coates led the way with 20 points for the Gamecocks and the more she got the ball in the third and fourth quarter the better off South Carolina was offensively. Tennessee got off the mat and beat Stanford 59-51 on Sunday as defense was the difference all afternoon long for the Lady Vols. Also, don’t sleep on Virginia Tech as they are now 11-0 on the young season after defeating Auburn 92-87 in overtime. Chanette Hicks scored nine points and picked up two key steals to propel the Hokies to victory on Saturday.
