It was a quiet week across the nation to start off the 2016-17 women’s college basketball season as most teams had little trouble with their season openers. Kentucky upset the Miami Hurricanes on Friday night 82-66, led by the 29 points of Makayla Epps. The Wildcats controlled the defensive end of the court as well limiting Miami to just 41 percent shooting and 18 turnovers. Monday night will have several key matchups between top teams as UCLA, Texas, South Carolina, Connecticut go on the road to play Baylor, Stanford, Ohio State, and Florida State, respectively.  The team that had the biggest scare of the weekend was Missouri as Abilene Christian pushed the Tigers to the limit but Missouri escaped with a 52-46 victory in the first round of the preseason WNIT.
