Week 11 FCS Football Bracketology Breakdown

Last Four In: Montana, Western Illinois, Maine, Fordham

First Four Out: New Hampshire, Weber State, Cal Poly, Northern Iowa

There was some big movement this week considering the bracket.  Three teams were moved out; New Hampshire, Liberty and Cal Poly.  New Hampshire took a hurtful loss to a rebounding Albany squad.  Liberty lost a chance to win the outright Big South championship against Charleston Southern.  Cal Poly lost a tight game to fellow bracket fence member, Weber State.

The three teams replacing them were the same rebounding Albany team, mentioned before.  Fordham also joins, after weeks hovering in the general area, just off the bracket.  The last team is Maine, who won a huge game over Stony Brook.

The overall contenders list was shrunk down mightily this week.  And that will be approached in more detail in the expanded Breaking Down the Bracket feature this coming Tuesday.  Montana and Western Illinois are amongst the biggest surprises, as they have been firmly entrenched on the bracket all season.  Now, with illy timed slides, both are in jeopardy of losing one more and finding themselves home for Thanksgiving.

The Colonial was the biggest winner this week, now up to five teams on the bracket again.  Wofford’s huge win over Chattanooga has them on the cusp of making the SoCon a lock for four bids.  The Patriot also snagged a second bid.  This final week will be very, very interesting.
