3/21 Softball Bracketology Breakdown

Last Four In: Boston College, Texas State, South Carolina, Tulsa

First Four Out: NC State, North Carolina, California, Pittsburgh

Texas A&M made the biggest statement of the weekend by taking two of three from an LSU team that was on a roll prior to this series. Timely hitting for the Aggies was key all weekend long, along with not allowing the LSU pitchers to get comfortable. Auburn finally slowed down Florida to get a 5-4 win last Monday night. This win was very important for the Tigers as they will see the Gators again during the postseason. Freshman Shay Knighten's walk-off homerun was the difference on Sunday for Oklahoma as the Sooners upset Alabama 2-0 out in Fullerton, California. Oregon and Arizona won key series over Washington and Arizona State. Both the Ducks and Wildcats took care of business on the road.  Kacey Everett's two-run homerun lifted Texas-Arlington to a 3-1 win over Louisiana-Lafayette to give the Mavericks their first win over a ranked opponent since 2003. This win for Texas-Arlington was a great example of resilience since the Mavericks were pummeled by a score of 29-0 on Saturday over the course of two losses to the Ragin’ Cajuns.
