North Dakota State’s Jacquelyn Sertic pitched lights out against Alabama on Saturday as the Bison upset the Crimson Tide 2-1 in Tuscaloosa. Jailyn Ford of James Madison continued her outstanding start to the 2016 season by handcuffing Arizona on Sunday, leading the Dukes to a 4-2 win over the Wildcats on Sunday afternoon. Oregon and pitcher Cheridan Hawkins are starting to find their rhythm that made them the prohibitive favorites in the Pac-12 Conference prior to the season. They rallied to beat a very good Florida Atlantic team on Saturday down in Las Vegas. Minnesota showed excellent resolve in Athens on Sunday against Georgia by rallying to beat a surging Bulldogs team 4-3 on Sunday afternoon. Don’t sleep on LSU. Freshman Sydney Smith threw the fourth perfect game on Friday night in an 8-0 win over Tennessee Tech. That performance was followed up by Carley Hoover’s no-hitter on Sunday afternoon over the same Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles squad.
