12/27 Men's Basketball Bracketology Breakdown

Last Eight In: South Carolina, UNLV, Texas, Connecticut, BYU, Pittsburgh, St. Mary’s, Marquette

First Eight Out: Notre Dame, USC, Oregon State, Texas Tech, Seton Hall, St. Joseph’s, Houston, Richmond

Much of the action last week took place in Hawaii, where Oklahoma ended up winning the Diamond Head Classic over Harvard. It was a great opportunity for a few teams to make a statement. New Mexico failed to do so, going 0 for 3 on the trip. Northern Iowa stumbled a couple times too and, while they are a good team that will compete for a MVC title, they have a long way to go. BYU salvaged their trip after a tough overtime loss to Harvard by beating both UNM and UNI. But the big winners were Harvard, a team that we thought may struggle in the Ivy League this year, and Oklahoma. The Sooners are now 11-0 and we will not have to wait long to see who will be chasing who in the Big 12. OU begins conference play against Iowa State and Kansas.
