Week 6 FCS Football Bracketology Breakdown

George Hammond

Last Four In: Richmond, Samford, Southeastern Louisiana, Youngstown State

First Four Out: Villanova, Indiana State, Portland State, North Dakota

Upcoming games this weekend should have significant playoff implications as the season hits the midseason mark: Northern Iowa meets Western Illinois, South Dakota State and Youngstown State tangle, Montana State visits Portland State and New Hampshire visits William & Mary. Meanwhile, even though it lost to Southland rival, McNeese State, one team that could benefit from many of the top 25 losses this week is Southeastern Louisiana. Because Northern Arizona, Villanova, and Liberty all lost, SE Louisiana might have a better chance to grab an at-large spot in the playoffs since it doesn’t meet Sam Houston State this year. If the Lions can get through the regular season with just one more loss, they could be in better shape than many others, including Northern Arizona, Villanova and Liberty.
