3/30 Softball Bracketology Breakdown

Arizona State College Softball

Last Four In: Purdue, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Oregon State

First Four Out: Cal State Fullerton, Creighton, Maryland, Utah

Kentucky got on track in a big way this past weekend, taking two out of three at home in Lexington against top-ranked LSU. The Wildcats did a nice job of slowing down the explosive Tigers offense and got just enough timely hitting to win the series. Florida reestablished itself a little bit in the circle by finishing off Alabama and winning two of three. Then they geot a tough series win down in Starkville against a very good Mississippi State team. Florida State and Auburn split a mid-week series as both teams had their moments where they were dominant offensively, which is a great sign for both teams moving forward. Washington found a way to run-rule Oregon to pin a conference loss on the Ducks but the bottom line is when the Oregon offense is clicking, they are absolutely lethal. James Madison picked up two significant wins over North Carolina to continue to close in on the top 16 seed lines if they continue to dominate each week. Arizona State is continuing to build momentum offensively after going into Tucson and taking two out of three from a wildly inconsistent Arizona pitching staff. Texas shook things up a bit in the Big 12 by going into Lawrence, Kansas and sweeping a red-hot Jayhawks team and scoring 24 runs over the course of three games in the process. Overall, you better be able to turn up the heat offensively as quality pitching is at a premium and teams can’t give away games when they get great pitching.
