3/23 Softball Bracketology Breakdown

LSU College Softball

Last Four In: Louisville, Pittsburgh, Utah, Oregon State

First Four Out: Cal State Fullerton, Long Beach State, Maryland, Stanford

LSU continues to build up the most intimidating home field advantage as the Tigers beat Oklahoma twice, outscoring the vaunted Sooner offense 11-2 enroute to a sweep. The environment was electric in Baton Rouge and at the rate the Tigers are going, they should be home all the way until the Women’s College World Series. Florida and Alabama, when they have been able to play, have done a nice job of neutralizing each other’s offensive attacks, which is a huge plus for both teams moving forward. UCLA is surging out west after they clinched a series win at Washington on Sunday with an 8-4 victory over the Huskies. Also, don’t sleep on Auburn as they swept Kentucky. And with the way the Tigers hit the ball, they have to be in the conversation as a College World Series threat. Next, the Atlantic Coast Conference is coming into its own as teams like Louisville and Pittsburgh are surging and that will give the necessary depth that the conference needs to get possibly five teams in the NCAA Tournament. Finally, Michigan was absolutely electric offensively as they destroyed Ohio State all weekend long and with Kansas getting to 29-2, they just might make the Big 12 a three-team race.
