Ricardo Velazco MLS Draft Profile

Ricardo Velazco MLS Draft Profile

Ricardo Velazco, Junior, M, Louisville

Overview:

Ricardo Velazco transferred to Louisville in 2013 from Cal State San Benardino, starting all 20 matches for the Cardinals and leading the team in goals (7), assists (9), and points (23). His impressive play earned him First Team All-American Conference honors, and he was chosen as American Conference Offensive Player of the Week a league-leading three times.

Velazco is a speedy attacker who will press opponents and drop back into the midfield to fight for balls. He possesses many of the attributes needed to be a productive midfielder, including good vision, a reliable passing game and nimble feet.

Final Projection:

Velazco is a product of the Real Salt Lake Academy, so he could ultimately be signed as a homegrown player. However, if he became available in the draft, Velazco would have first round potential.
