Nnemkadi Ogwumike WNBA Draft Profile

Nnemkadi Oguwmike Stanford

Nnemkadi Ogwumike, Senior, Small Forward, Stanford

 Standford Team Page

Overview:

This senior small forward has done it all for the Lady Cardinal. In 2009-10, Ogwumike led Stanford to the National Championship Game losing to UCONN, won Pac-10 player of the year and was named to the State Farm Coaches All American team and led Stanford in scoring at 18.5 points per game.

In 2011, Ogwumike had an excellent season; she led the Cardinal with a 17.5 ppg, and shot 58.6 percent from the floor and also dominated down low averaging 7.6 rebounds per contest. She led Stanford to an 18-0 Pac-10 regular season record clinching their 11th consecutive Pac 10 Women’s Basketball Championship. In the post season, she led the Cardinal back to their fourth consecutive final four appearance but they were once again the bridesmaid coming up short of their first national championship since 1992.

Final Projection:

After a tough loss in the national semifinals against Texas A&M, I would expect Ogwumike to come out on a mission to lead her Lady Cardinal squad back to a fifth consecutive final four appearance. Her ability to score from anywhere on the floor is going to make it virtually impossible to stop on a nightly basis. Also, her ability to defend against anyone in the game makes her the clear top choice for the 2012 WNBA Draft.
