It’s all about the underrated teams off to great starts this week. Four schools, Houston, Pepperdine, San Diego State, and Texas Tech, climbed into a two seed in a regional after adding another impressive set of wins to their resume. Houston headed to the Dodgertown Classic over the weekend, where they defeated USC and UCLA, moving to 11-3 on the year. The only team they lost to was Pepperdine, who went 3-0 at the tournament and now sits at 12-3. San Diego State is off to a 11-4 start with a win over city rival San Diego and Texas Tech sits at 14-3 with a series win over Indiana. Those aren’t the only teams flying under the radar, as both Florida International and Georgia Southern enter the field with impressive records. FIU is 15-1, while Georgia Southern is 14-2. Both teams have big games coming up, as FIU has a showdown with Rice this weekend, and Georgia Southern has games with Clemson looming. Watching to see of these teams can keep up these hot starts will be something to keep an eye on moving forward.
