The SEC lost two projected NCAA Tournament teams this week. We were looking at Ole Miss and LSU to get enough done to sneak into the big dance, but both teams went on the road last week and lost two games. For the Rebels, the results were heartbreaking. They fell at Alabama by three and Georgia by one. With two of their four remaining home games against Florida and Kentucky, Mississippi could very well head into the SEC Tournament at 18-13. That is not going to cut it. LSU has three winnable home games left, starting with Mississippi State on Wednesday. They would likely end up at 19-13 if they can hold serve at home and a short SEC Tourney run could get them in. However, the Tigers looked pretty bad last week in College Station and Fayetteville, so we’re not counting on them to do enough right now. Missouri and Tennessee are on the bubble as well. With Mizzou’s win over Tennessee on Saturday, they are the only SEC bubble team who have a decent chance of joining Florida and Kentucky in the field of 68.
