Rudy Gobert NBA Draft Profile

Rudy Gobert NBA Draft Profile

Rudy Gobert, Center, France

 Overview:

Rudy Gobert is another one of those players from France that have come through Cholet. The 7-0, 240 pounder is more of an athlete than a true center. He is a superb athlete and his length makes him an efficient scorer and a tenacious defender. Gobert is still pretty raw. Prior to heading to Cholet he only played for a few years on some youth squads. And once he got to Cholet injuries slowed his progress.

Gobert got some international experience during the U18 European Championships in 2010 where he played a pivotal role for France. In nine games he averaged 9.2 points per game and shot over 50 percent from the floor. He also totaled 9.0 rebounds per game.

Final Projection:

Gobert has some fine tuning to be done, but he could have a nice future in the NBA. His size and athleticism is a unique combination and his mid-range jumper is developing. He lacks the strength to battle with some of the stronger players, even in France, and that will certainly be an issue in the NBA. He can come off the weak side and use his length and athleticism to block some shots, but a lot of opposing centers will be able to easily back him down and beat him with brute force.
