Last Four In: Cal Poly, UC Irvine, Elon, Marquette
First Four Out: Providence, Virginia Tech, Memphis, William & Mary
Of course there is a long way to go, but last week it seemed nobody wanted to claim the top spot in the bracket. The Tar Heels, who are still projected to end up as the top overall seed come November, did not have a good week. It took UNC overtime to beat Campbell 1-0 and then they drew Virginia Tech 0-0. Conference foe Notre Dame is also 3-0-3 and coming off of a conference draw. Creighton got a nice win over St. John’s in their first Big East game. Out west there are a few teams making serious runs at the top spot. Cal is still riding high from their opening weekend wins over Georgetown and Maryland. Washington had a disappointing 1-1 draw against Georgia State last week, but they have a few quality wins to hang their hat on. However, we still project the Bruins to take home the conference title and remain the Pac-12 contender for the number one overall seed.
