Robert Lester NFL Draft Profile

Robert Lester NFL Draft Profile

Robert Lester, Senior, Safety, Alabama

 Overview:

It did not take Robert Lester very long to turn into a superb ball hawk in the Alabama secondary. The safety was not considered a great recruit coming out of high school, but sure turned into a great collegiate player. After sitting out in 2008, Lester barely saw the field as a redshirt freshman in 2009. He played in just eight games and tallied just six tackles.

That all changed in 2010. Lester had the opportunity to step into the starting lineup along with many other young players in the secondary. He secured a starting safety spot and really helped turn a young group into a fearsome unit. He totaled 52 tackles and defended a dozen passes. Most impressively, Lester picked off eight passes.

Final Projection:

At 6-2 and 206 pounds, Lester can lay out some big hits. But of course his most notable skill is his ability to find the ball and actually catch it. Lester’s youth, and the youth of the rest of the secondary, was apparent throughout much of the 2010 season. While Lester did have more big plays than bad plays, he still needs to develop some consistency.
