Week 5 Football - What to Watch For

Alabama is a clear number one, again and Todd Salem looks at the plethora of contenders for the second spot in the BCS title game. The rest would feel much, much better if they had two more spots to work with in a four team playoff system as Salem explains in “Playoffs Versus Polls.” One of those teams, West Virginia, still has a lot to prove according to College Sport Madness’ Dan Levine. And it begins this week against Baylor. Virginia Tech needs to rebound against a decent opponent in Cincinnati after their shocking loss to Pitt still resonates. There are plenty of teams in the Big Ten that have something to prove, but perhaps none more than Wisconsin. The Badgers also have plenty of NFL prospects to watch on Saturday night. Matt McDonnell’s “NFL Draft Watch” takes a look at a hopefully healthy Montee Ball taking on solid Nebraska front line led by Baker Steinkuhler.
