Jared Watts MLS Draft Profile

Jared Watts MLS Draft Player Profile

Jared Watts, Junior, Midfield, Wake Forest

Overview:

As a defensive midfielder, Jared Watts rarely gets the recognition he deserves. He is not the type of player that will tally a ton of points. As a freshman in 2010 he only had one assist in 18 games. In 2011 he again had just one assist and added one goal. However, it was quite a goal as Watts broke a 0-0 draw with Virginia Tech with a 110th minute tally just as a tie was seemingly inevitable.

But Watts has earned some accolades. As a freshman he was an All-ACC Freshman performer and in 2011 he made the All-ACC First Team. Those awards will continue to roll in for the 6-1 Statesville, North Carolina product.

Final Projection:

Watts is a tough defender and will often drop back and play quite a bit of defense for the Demon Deacons. At the next level he could play in the back or as defensive midfielder. He may need to get a little stronger to battle some of the tougher players in the league for 50-50 balls, but he does have solid speed and rarely makes mistakes.
