Coby Fleener NFL Draft Profile

Stanford Coby Fleener NFL Draft Profile

Coby Fleener, Senior, Tight End, Stanford

Overview:

Coby Fleener was one of the many weapons the future number one overall selection and former Stanford Cardinal, Andrew Luck, had to play with on a weekly basis. The sure handed, six foot six, Fleener reeled in 34 passes, totaling 667 yards and ten scores during his senior campaign. He has been a long time starter and a consistent contributor to the Cardinal offense. He is not an athletic freak like Jimmy Graham or Ron Gronkowski, but is an above average athlete, who is surprisingly quick for his size. He excels at getting open and is as sure handed as tight ends come. He was a good blocker in college as well but many believe that is his biggest area of weakness coming into the NFL.

Final Projection:

Fleener is the best tight end prospect in this year’s crop. His excellent production in college, combined with his above average athleticism, smarts, experience, and sure hands make him worthy of a first round selection. Fleener will likely hear his name called late in the first, or early in the second round, as tight ends typically do not get selected very high on draft day.
