2012 NFL Draft Profiles

David DeCastro, Senior, Offensive Guard, Stanford

Stanford Team Page

Overview:

All-American guard David DeCastro can expect his name to be called rather early in the 2012 NFL draft, being the very best offensive guard in the nation and all. He has good footwork, the ability to play multiple positions along the offensive line and he has great size at 6’5” and 310 pounds.

With the help of some other talented linemen, DeCastro helped anchor one of the best units in the country. Stanford finished the year as a top 20 rushing offense and top 25 passing offense. The Cardinal was top 10 in total offense and scoring offense in no small part to their offensive line. Also telling was where Stanford finished in sacks allowed on the season: 8th in the nation, allowing less than one sack per contest.

Final Projection:

With his consistency, playing in every game for the past three seasons, and ability, David DeCastro can expect to be drafted in the first round of April’s draft. Barring some unforeseen developments at the combine, he should be the first guard off the board as well. With opinions claiming he may even be able to play right tackle in the NFL, his versatility will just add to teams’ desire to have him on their line next season.
