Jeff Fleming Earns The Madness FCS Player of the Week Award

Jeff Fleming orchestrated Sacramento State’s first ever victory over an FBS opponent. The Hornets knocked off Oregon State 29-28 and that earned Fleming the College Sports Madness FCS Player of the Week Award. But it was not just Fleming’s numbers, which were pretty impressive on their own as he threw for 257 yards and three touchdowns, it was his timing. After the Beavers scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to take the game to overtime, OSU had all the momentum. That momentum was compounded when the Beavers scored a touchdown in overtime. The pressure was on Fleming and he had the answer. Fleming connected with Brandyn Reed for a touchdown in overtime. Sacramento State was an extra point away from taking the game to another overtime. But that was not what Fleming or the Hornets had in mind. They put the ball back in their superstar quarterbacks hands and he threw a two-point conversion to Reed, giving Sacramento State the victory.
