5/1 Softball Bracketology Breakdown

Last Four In: Boston College, Oregon State, Texas, Wisconsin

First Four Out: South Florida, San Diego State, SIUE, Cal Poly

Florida State and Oregon got themselves primed for their showdown series in Eugene next weekend as the Seminoles swept a quality North Carolina team and the Ducks took the Civil War and got the offense going nicely. Florida picked up another key road series win as they took it to Tennessee in the first games as the Gators threw two straight shutouts before losing 5-1 on Sunday. Ole Miss picked up a win over Alabama and they split the double header on Saturday with Crimson Tide. The win for the Rebels was the first over Alabama since 2005 as Kylan Becker’s walk-off hit was the difference on Saturday. Minnesota improved to 19-1 in Big Ten play as they had little trouble with Purdue and the Golden Gophers sent off their senior class the right way as they are one win away from tying a program record for wins in a season with 49. Arizona will look to lock up the Pac-12 in style next weekend against longtime rival UCLA. The Wildcats look to head into the NCAA Tournament with some extra momentum as Arizona will have their bye week during the final week of the regular season.
