Baylor and South Carolina both had strong weeks as the Bears got things going offensively down at the Gulf Coast Showcase lighting up DePaul for well over 100 points and Ohio State for 85 in victories over the Blue Demons and Buckeyes. The Gamecocks took it to a very good Louisville team 83-59 on Sunday afternoon. Alaina Coates led the way with 17 points and 14 rebounds and A’ja Wilson chipped in 17 points as well as South Carolina controlled the final three quarters and put the game out of reach. West Virginia is quietly sitting at 7-0 in the Big 12 as they grinded out a hard-fought 56-52 win against Auburn on a neutral floor in Savannah, Georgia. The Mountaineers ability to play lock down defense is going to give them a chance in games against Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas during conference play. Marquette earned a 74-73 victory at Oregon State as Amani Wilborn’s layup with 13 seconds left to play was the eventual game winner for the Golden Eagles to secure their second win of the season against a Pac-12 opponent.
