Week 8 FCS Football Bracketology Breakdown

Last Four In: North Dakota, Villanova, Cal Poly, Stony Brook

First Four Out: Albany, New Hampshire, Lehigh, Tennessee State

For the first time, perhaps all season, nobody drops from the bracket (meaning, nobody jumps in).  There was the customary shuffling, however.  A really bad loss by Eastern Illinois has plummeted the Panthers from very securely in the field to hanging by a thread.  Wofford, who was already close to the line, took their third loss, but that was against The Citadel.

Two big games in the Missouri Valley caused some mid-level movement, as both Western Illinois and Youngstown State each lost to Top Ten conference foes.  North Dakota State solidified their spot as the #1 with that win over Western Illinois.  South Dakota State’s victory over YSU, coupled with Montana’s semi-surprising loss to Northern Arizona, vaulted them onto the seed list.

With four weeks remaining, it’s becoming crunch time for one-time contenders who’ve struggled.  Teams like Northern Arizona, Northern Iowa and McNeese State still have enough time and possibilities for quality wins to force their way back into the field. ‘Tis the season, right?
