Week 5 FCS Football Bracketology Breakdown

First Four Out: Wofford, Illinois State, Cal Poly, North Dakota

Really, this was a pretty disappointing week for many of the teams on the bubble.  There was a great opportunity for many schools to separate themselves, instead they lost games and have expanded the bubble to a great number of schools.  It’s all a matter of perspective.  As many of the teams on the bubble deserve spots as don’t deserve spots.  The only way to describe it is a mess.  Moving forward is only going to be tougher, especially if there’s as much back and forth win swapping as there has been the last two weeks...I really enjoy it!

The Missouri Valley and the Southern Conferences each lost ground in this week’s projection.  The beneficiary was the Colonial, who snatched up both of those new bids.  That puts the MVFC and CAA on equal footing with five teams a piece.  The Southern and Southland both are looking more and more likely as three bids leagues in November.  The biggest question is whether the Big Sky will jump back up and take a bid or two from the current five-bid leagues.
