Florida bounced back in a big fashion this week to secure its place as the top team in college baseball. After losing a series at Kentucky last week, the Gators topped in-state rival Florida State in a midweek game before sweeping Texas A&M, a top five team nationally, to move to 27-3 on the season. Florida scored 24 runs in the weekend sweep of A&M and showed their depth on Sunday, as starter AJ Puk left the game in the second inning with an injury. The Gators will have another tough series this weekend as they host Mississippi State, a team that has been on a roll since the start of conference play.

Keep an eye out for Utah as the season progresses. The Utes swept Arizona last weekend, improving to 7-2 in Pac-12 play, which has them tied with California atop the conference. Utah’s 3-12 nonconference record has them out of the discussion when it comes to at-large bids, but if the Utes can continue their fine play from the last three weeks, they could work themselves into a regional by seasons end.
