Taylor Decker NFL Draft Profile

Taylor Decker NFL Draft Profile

Taylor Decker, Offensive Tackle, Ohio State

Overview:

Taylor Decker has been a very consistent offensive lineman for Ohio State. As a freshman back in 2012 he spent most of his time on special teams, but the following year he started all 14 games and never looked back. During the 2014 season, Decker was the only returning starter on the line and the pressure was on him to be a leader. He certainly stepped up in that regard and became the Buckeyes top offensive lineman during their national championship run, paving the way for running back Ezekiel Elliott to rush for 1,878 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Final Projection:

At 6-8 and 315 pounds, Decker has the size to be a top NFL tackle, on either the left or right side. He is a better run blocker than pass blocker and that is something he will work on during the 2015 campaign with Ohio State. The Buckeyes will run with Elliott, but with their trio of quarterbacks, expect Decker to get plenty of opportunities to work on his pass blocking. NFL teams would like to see Decker keep his pad level down, but heading into the 2015 season, he is one of the tackles in this class.
