Oklahoma Clinches Share of Big 12 Softball Title

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Lauren Chamberlain failed to hit a record 91st career home run, but the University of Oklahoma softball team clinched a share of its fourth consecutive Big 12 title with a 7-4 win Sunday over the University of Kansas (35-10, 5-7). Chamberlain was 0-for-1 but was walked four times in her other plate appearances. The four walks matched a career high for Chamberlain and increased her season total to 42 and her career total to 200, making her the ninth Division I softball player to have at least 200 or more career walks.

Chamberlain scored three runs as the Sooners improved to 42-7 overall and 14-2 in the Big 12. Freshman Paige Parker hurled the first six innings, allowing two runs on two hits, while walking two and striking out four. She is now 23-5 for the season with Shelby Pendley finishing the game. Pendley also had three hits for OU, scoring twice and driving in a pair of runs. Erin Miller's three RBI led the Sooners.
