First Eight Out: Arkansas State, Tulane, West Virginia, San Diego, Fresno State, Georgia, TCU, Middle Tennessee
Teams like Gonzaga, Duquesne and Arkansas remain in the bracket for now. There are still a few conferences out there that have the possibility of sending two teams to the NCAA Tournament if an upset occurs in the conference tournament. And that is what all bubble teams will be cheering against. Florida Gulf Coast would be right on the bubble, but the right side of the bubble, should they lose Sunday against Northern Kentucky. Western Kentucky would be in a similar situation as FGCU should they lose to Southern Miss on Saturday night in the C-USA finals. James Madison would almost certainly be in the field should they lose Saturday or Sunday. As would Green Bay, who faces off with Wright State on Sunday afternoon.
The Sun Belt is very interesting. Arkansas State is our first team out right now and a loss against Arkansas-Little Rock will keep them out. A win and they earn the auto bid, while Arkansas-Little Rock would slide onto the bubble. Even with a loss in the Sun Belt finals, UALR’s body of work should be good enough to get them into the field of 64, but it would be close.
