12/7 Men's Basketball Bracketology Breakdown

Duke Men's College Basketball

Last Eight In: Memphis, Alabama, Northern Iowa, Notre Dame, Georgetown, UNLV, Rhode Island, Minnesota

First Eight Out: Illinois, Washington, Providence, Baylor, Creighton, Cincinnati, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh

If the ACC/Big Ten Challenge taught us anything, it is that the ACC has better teams, but the Big Ten is a deeper conference. Michigan was the only ranked Big Ten team to win and they went on to lose to NJIT on Saturday. But the Big Ten still won the contest 8 to 6. But it was teams like Duke knocking off Wisconsin and Louisville manhandling Ohio State that grabbed most of the attention. But in the end, it isn’t bad news for the Big Ten. With a perceived deep conference, we have eight Big Ten teams projected to make the NCAA Tournament. And that does not include one-loss teams like Illinois, Indiana or Penn State. Those three have done enough, so far at least, in their non-conference slate to warrant an at-large selection with a .500 showing in conference play. We suspect all three will struggle to reach that mark though.
