Last Eight In: East Carolina, Iowa State, South Florida, Western Kentucky, Alabama, Tulane, Saint Mary’s, Washington State
First Eight Out: Vanderbilt, Purdue, Colorado, LSU, Washington, Florida, Kansas, Northwestern
One of the big games last week was on Sunday afternoon when South Carolina went to Duke. The Gamecocks are hanging onto the top spot in the top 25 and everybody seems to be waiting for Connecticut to overtake that spot once again. It will almost certainly happen eventually, but not this week. A’ja Wilson had a last second putback for the Gamecocks to come away from Cameron Indoor Stadium with an impressive 51-50 win. It was a hard fought, well-defended game where both teams struggled to shoot, but South Carolina will take a win any way they can get it. The Gamecocks should not be seriously tested again until SEC play begins in January.
